On November 3, 2024, the “Multifaceted Perspectives” Debate Competition took place at USSH, attracting eight competing teams and five distinguished judges. The competition provided students with an opportunity to develop their critical thinking, debate skills, and a deeper understanding of pressing societal issues.
The three main debate topics were:
- Peer pressure has a more negative than positive impact on youth development.
- Vietnam should legalize euthanasia.
- Homeschooling is not the optimal form of education.
Participants showcased strong argumentation skills, adaptability in rebuttals, and engaging debating styles. The judging panel praised the teams for their well-prepared arguments and academic rigor. This event fostered an intellectually stimulating environment, encouraging students to refine their analytical skills and engage in constructive discussions on contemporary issues.
In addition to the main debate rounds, the event included breakout sessions with experts, where participants had the opportunity to learn debate methodologies, argument structuring, and persuasive speaking techniques. The competition also encouraged creativity in counterarguments and real-world problem-solving, making it a well-rounded learning experience.
