[EVENT] Marathon Festival: Physical Health Care – Mental Health Protection

In recent years, the mental health of college students has become a major concern in the community. According to a 2022 UNICEF study, 26% of students reported experiencing symptoms associated with a moderate or high risk of mental health disorders, especially among high school and college students. The causes are often related to academic pressure, finances, and social issues. If these issues are not resolved promptly, they can lead to anxiety, depression, and affect students’ academic performance as well as their personal lives.

In the workplace, mental health is also a notable issue. A Deloitte survey found that 77% of employees experienced burnout at their current job, with more than half reporting more than one experience. However, for students, the cause of stress often comes not only from the workload but also from the learning environment, pressure of expectations, and lack of support from psychological counseling services in universities.

In response to the series of events on World Mental Health Day (October 10) with the theme: “It’s time to prioritize mental health in the workplace and study”, the Marathon Festival event: Taking care of physical health – Protecting mental health is organized to raise awareness and reduce prejudice about mental health issues in the community in general and in the university environment in particular. And the race is also part of a series of events to improve mental health capacity for students and staff of the University of Education of the MentalHigh project.
