In order to improve the capacity of staff and lecturers in the field of mental health support, especially the ability to respond in disaster and emergency situations, on October 24th, 2025, Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration organized the Workshop “Mental health and psychosocial support in disaster and emergency situations” at the campus.

The activity is within the framework of the Project “Building Mental Health Capacity at Higher Education Institutes in Southeast Asia (MentalHigh)” – funded by the European Union through the ERASMUS – EDU-2022-CBHE program, implemented under the Cooperation Agreement between Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration and Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany) signed on August 15, 2023.
Through the program, participants learned more about the concept, scope and importance of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in the context of crisis; identified common psychological reactions after disasters and appropriate initial support measures; practiced self-support and peer support skills in emergency situations; and participated in discussions and shared practical experiences with leading experts in the fields of psychology and education.

The workshop was directly shared and guided by Prof. Dr. Dang Hoang Minh – lecturer at the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. With extensive professional experience in the field of psychological education and mental health, Professor Minh brought practical perspectives and effective application tools in the university education environment.

The program attracted the participation of lecturers from Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration – who play an important role in spreading knowledge, skills and positive attitudes about mental health support to students and the academic community.

Through this activity, the University hopes to contribute to building a safe and humane learning and working environment, focusing on mental health and adaptability of the academic community in a context of many fluctuations. This is also a concrete step in implementing the goals of the MentalHigh Project, aiming to improve mental health capacity for higher education institutions in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
