VUTED Inspires New Students through the 3rd Activity of the “Mental Health Calendar”

Laughter, applause, and focused eyes filled the Grand Hall on the morning of August 6, 2025, as more than 150 first-year college students joined the third activity in the “Mental Health Calendar for Students” series, themed “Recognizing and Managing Stress Effectively.” The event was part of the orientation program, equipping newcomers with confidence for their academic journey ahead.

Leading the program was Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc Lan, Head of the MentalHigh research team at VUTED. With her approachable style, she “unlocked” engaging insights about MentalHigh – an international cooperation project funded by Erasmus+ (European Commission), aiming to spread the message of mental health care at universities in Vietnam and Cambodia. The project focuses on building a supportive student community and developing tech-based “assistants” such as Shining Mind and MoodCare applications.

The session helped students better understand the concept and importance of mental health, identify causes and signs of stress, and distinguish between positive stress (which motivates) and negative stress (which drains energy if left unmanaged). Dr. Lan shared practical coping tips such as planning studies effectively, taking care of sleep, staying active, and seeking timely support.

An energetic Q&A followed, where students shared stories about facing deadlines, financial pressure, and social adjustment worries. Dr. Lan listened attentively, provided thorough answers, and offered small, thoughtful gifts. One student remarked: “The program helped me better understand the value of mental health and ways to relieve pressure.”

The event not only delivered valuable knowledge and practical skills but also infused positive energy, empowering students to face academic and life challenges with confidence. The “Mental Health Calendar for Students” will continue with more inspiring topics, promising to strengthen the connection within the VUTED community.
