On the morning of November 29, 2024, a workshop was held at Hall 101 GK1 to share knowledge and discuss gender equality issues with all staff and employees of the University. This event is part of a series of activities of the MentalHigh project under the Erasmus+ program funded by the European Union, with the aim of raising awareness of mental health at universities in Southeast Asia.

At the workshop, MSc. Nguyen Quang Huy – lecturer of the Faculty of Economic Law Management presented on some general issues on gender and gender equality; and identifying gender equality in Vietnam.
With the joint efforts and coordination of ministries, branches and agencies at the central and local levels, gender equality work has achieved many remarkable results in recent times. The proportion of women participating in Party committees at all levels in all terms has increased. The gender gap in all levels of education has narrowed; the service system to support victims of gender-based violence has been expanded and improved in quality; the role and position of women in the economic sector have been enhanced; more and more outstanding female entrepreneurs and female CEOs in Vietnam have been recognized and honored by world economic forums. Many female officers have joined the United Nations Peacekeeping, demonstrating the potential of women that when women are empowered, they can fulfill any mission.
In addition to the achievements, gender equality work still has certain shortcomings and limitations. Gender prejudices in society are still a major obstacle to gender equality work; the gender imbalance at birth is still high; early marriage and early childbearing are still quite common in ethnic minority areas; violence against women and children still exists; women still have to take on more housework and family care than men.
