On May 14, 2025, our MentalHigh team took part in HEALTHYLAND, the annual health festival at HAW Hamburg. Organized by CamPuls+, the university’s health management team, HEALTHYLAND brings together students, staff, and external partners for two days full of workshops, talks, and opportunities to exchange ideas around health and well-being.
Representing the MentalHigh project, Ga Young Lee and Antonio Donato were present at Berliner Tor 5, the main campus building, where they connected with visitors, answered questions, and shared what MentalHigh is all about. It was a great chance to talk about the interventions we have developed to support mental health in universities in Vietnam and Cambodia.’
One of the highlights of our participation was a keynote speech by Astrid Jörns-Presentati, titled “MentalHigh – Promoting Student Wellbeing in Southeast Asia,” held on Wednesday, May 14. The talk focused on student mental health challenges in Vietnam and Cambodia, where high academic pressure and limited support systems can lead to stress, anxiety, and burnout. Astrid introduced our project’s goals, which include creating digital interventions and embedding mental health support into university structures in a sustainable way.
The audience got a closer look at how international collaboration—backed by EU funding—can help bring lasting change to higher education environments, particularly in Southeast Asia.
Overall, HEALTHYLAND was a fun, inspiring event. We’re grateful for the chance to be part of it and to keep the conversation going around mental health in academia—both here in Hamburg and beyond.
